St. Lucia has been on my bucket list for quite awhile. The Caribbean island offers idyllic beaches, lush rain forests, incredible & scenic terrain (The Pitons), and mouth-watering cuisine. Here are some St Lucia travel tips and requirements to keep in mind.

Please note that the travel protocols and requirements can change frequently.

Remember to keep checking the St Lucia travel website for the most up to date information.

St. Lucia travel tips & entry requirements

  1. Vaccination is not a requirement for entry to St. Lucia. However, you will be restricted in terms of leaving your hotel, and moving around the island.
  2. If you have been vaccinated then bring your vaccination card and also scan a copy as a backup.
  3. Apply for travel authorization on the St. Lucia government website. Registration can start no more than 7 days before your arrival.
  4. Obtain a negative RT PCR Covid-19 test. This test has to be completed within 5 days of your arrival.
  5. Upload your negative PCR test as soon as you receive it.
  6. Wait for your travel authorization approval from the website. You will need to print the authorization. Without approval you will have to reschedule your trip.
  7. Complete and print a Health Screen form dated the day of arrival.
  8. Print your travel authorization approval form, negative PCR Test, Health Screen form, hotel confirmation, proof of insurance, and Vaccination card (if completed). These documents will be needed to gain entry along with your Passport and (Travel Visa if needed).

St. Lucia travel tips: relax and enjoy the serenity

I like to do quite a bit of research for any trip. Anticipating a cool spot to catch a drink. Or a fabulous road side shop to have an amazing dish. These help make the trip so exciting.

However, with possible restrictions and health protocols, planning can be difficult. So I have approached this trip with a wish list. But keeping a flexible mind set that plans could easily get cancelled.

If the worse thing is to spend time on the beach and drink rum punch all day… I think that will be just fine! It’s the time frame we live in. It’s no ones fault. So just go with the flow. And relax and enjoy yourself.

5 attractions on my wish list

  1. Pigeon Island National Park – located just north of Gros Islet is a national park worth exploring. In addition to some spectacular beaches, there is also a good hike up to Rodney Fort. From a good vantage point enjoy some amazing views and perfect Instagram moments. There are few good restaurants and bars to grab a drink and some local seafood.

2. Hike Gros Piton – as part of a World Heritage site, you will have an opportunity to hike one of the worlds most recognizable rock formations. The hike can be strenuous and plan on 5 to 6 hours for the complete trip.

3. Gros Islet Street Party – On most Fridays you can head over to Gros Islet for a street party. Many vendors and bars will offer rum punch and BBQ foods to enjoy. You can expect bands, dancing, and warm hospitality.

4. Diamond Falls – A trip to the Botanical Gardens will end with a spectacular dip at the Diamond Falls. Plan on 3-4 hours for this excursion.

5. Sunset Cruise – St. Lucia offers some of the most amazing sunsets in the world. Arrange for a sunset cruise through a tour operator, or your hotel. Some will offer a party vibe with drinks and food. Others can be more intimate. Either way, enjoy one of natures gifts.

Where to Stay: Sandals All-Inclusive Resorts

We decided to stay at an All-Incusive Sandals resort for this St. Lucia trip. The Sandals chain advertises “All Luxury Included”.

From water sports, to 5 star gourmet dining, bars and premium alcohol. In addition, you get use of the other nearby Sandals resorts throughout the vacation.

We figured if there was a travel restriction re-imposed, then we would have plenty of great entertainment, food, and drink options at the Resort.

If the resorts live up to the advertising, then we are in for a real treat!

St. Lucia Travel Tips: Final Thoughts
